Ilya Sherbovich
President, Managing Partner

Ilya Sherbovich is the President and Co-Managing Partner of UCP Advisory. He has more than 14 years of practical experience working on the Russian capital markets.

Before joining UCP in 2007, Ilya worked as the Head of Global Banking (Russia) for Deutsche Bank. Based in Moscow, he was responsible for the corporate coverage and investment banking business of Deutsche Bank in Russia and led the regional team in providing both strategic advisory and transaction execution to clients across a broad range of sectors. Ilya has also served as the President of Deutsche UFG.

Prior to that, Ilya was employed at United Financial Group (UFG) for over 10 years, and served as General Director of ZAO UFG, later as the President of UFG Group and Head of Investment Banking where he developed a leading financial advisory services practice. He also acted as a member of UFG Board of Directors and Executive Committee. UFG was subsequently sold to Deutsche Bank.

In 2000-2001 Ilya served as a Board member of Sberbank, Russia’s largest commercial banking institution.

Ilya was also credited with the establishment of Russia’s most advanced ECM team, ranked Number 1 by Euromoney. He was responsible for supervising Deutsche UFG’s participation in more than 30 public offerings of Russian companies at both local and Western stock exchanges.

Ilya Sherbovich began his career in 1992 with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in which he worked as an Associate. From 1994 to 1995 he was employed by the Capital Markets Surveillance Unit of the Russian Federal Commission on Capital Markets where he was responsible for the securities offerings and registrar activities of Russian companies.

He is a graduate of the Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics.

Victoria Lazareva
Co-Managing Partner, Private Equity

Victoria Lazareva is Co-Managing Partner of UCP Advisory. She has over 7 years of investment banking and private equity experience working in the Russian market and more than 10 years of international investment banking experience in both London and New York.

Victoria serves on the Board of Directors of several Russian companies. She has been a Board member of OJSC Fashion Continent since 2008, and was recently elected as an Independent Director of OJSC Seventh Continent, one of the leading Moscow food retail chains. She is also an Independent Director of OJSC Monocrystal, a leading Russian technology business.

Before joining UCP Victoria was a Managing Director at the Moscow office of Deutsche Bank where she was in charge of the corporate finance practice in the Retail, Consumer Goods, Healthcare, and Real Estate sectors for more than 5 years. Victoria joined UFG (subsequently acquired by Deutsche Bank) in 2003 and over 5 years built a leading ECM and M&A franchise in her chosen industry sectors.

Prior to 2003, Victoria was a Vice President in Deutsche Bank`s AG London-based Corporate Finance Group. She focused on M&A advisory, leveraged and structured finance, and IPOs, across a wide range of sectors including technology and basic industries.

Before her six-year tenure in London with Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank, Victoria was an Associate with Cambridge Partners L.L.C in New York.

Victoria holds an Executive MBA from Stanford University and a degree in Chemistry from the Popov Chemical Institute in Saint-Petersburg.

Yuri Kachuro
Partner, Executive director, Head of legal department

Yuri Kachuro is a Partner of UCP Advisory. He is responsible for all of UCP`s legal matters including the legal structuring of private equity transactions and project management.

Prior to joining the UCP team, Yuri had worked with Deutsche Bank and UFG for many years on various transactions in the capacity of external legal advisor.

Yuri was a Counsel (2006) and a Partner (2007—2010) with Clifford Chance in Moscow focusing on M&A, JV and private equity transactions.

From 2004 to 2006 Yuri also practiced with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Moscow focusing on complex M&A and JV deals as well as on equity capital markets transactions.

Yuri was an Associate with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, advising on a broad range of corporate, capital markets and project finance transactions from 1998 to 2004.

He began his career in 1995 as an Analyst with Fidelity Investments in New York.

Yuri holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University in New York and a Juris Doctor degree from the Fordham University School of Law in New York.

Alexander Koval
Director

Alexander Koval is a Director of UCP Advisory. He is responsible for the investment management process in the UCP Private Equity department. Since 2007 Alexander has served Chairman of OJSC Fashion Continent`s Board of Directors, following UCP`s acquisition of a 29,63% stake in the business.

Prior to joining the UCP team, Alexander was associated with Deutsche Bank and UFG for many years handling various transactions.

Alexander has been providing legal assistance to the Moscow City Government’s development project at Khodynskoye Pole (OAO Aviatsionny Park) from 2004 through 2006.

He has also held various bankruptcy administration positions as Administrator, Receiver and Liquidator. He has been a member of the Russian Guild of Professional Crisis Managers since 1999.

Alexander has a degree in mechanical engineering from the Moscow Highway Institute as well as in engineering economics. In 2002, he attended the Russian Justice Ministry International Legal Institute Law School and later obtained specialist training in crisis management and bankruptcy administration from the Russian Federal Insolvency and Financial Rehabilitation Service, and the Russian Federation Justice Ministry.
